Translation memory is a powerful tool. It increases translation quality and consistency. In the long term, it can also save you money by reducing the amount of work a translator has to do.
Redokun uses the TM to suggest confirmed translations that can be used again in the same document and in other documents in your list. This increases uniformity and saves you from having to translate the same sentences more than once.
Each account has its own TM. If you invite a translator to translate a document, they will have access to your translation memories.
Members of a team can also share their TM with each other and their translators.
The Translation Memory eXchange (TMX) format is an exchange format that standardizes the presentation of translation memory content and renders it exchangeable between different tools or translators.
With TMX files, you can, for example, import the TM from a tool you used in the past, or import your past translations from your translation vendor.
1. Go to the “Translation Memory” page and click “Upload TM”
2. Select and upload a TM file. You can upload your TM using one of the two file formats:
If you’re using the XLSX format, keep in mind the following rules:
You can also use this template file: Download
3. Pick the source and target languages. These fields are automatically filled in if you’re using the TMX file format.
You can later delete your uploaded TM files if needed. For instance, you may want to upload an updated version of your TM file. In that case, the fastest way to achieve that is to delete the previously uploaded file and upload the updated TM file.
