FAQ: How Can You Translate Documents Faster with Redokun?

Contents

Hello! I'm Lynn, your dedicated Customer Success Manager at Redokun. Welcome to our FAQ corner where I answer your top questions about Redokun, translation management, and beyond.

Before signing up for Redokun, many users reached out to me to ask: How does their translation process become much faster with Redokun compared to traditional methods?

So here is a quick recap of how we help marketers streamline their translation processes.

Automatic Text Extraction: No More Manual Copy-and-Pasting

One reason you'll be faster with Redokun is that we eliminate a lot of the manual work upfront. For example, when you start translating a new document, you don't need to manually extract the text that needs to be translated. Redokun does that for you automatically.

Whether you're working with InDesign files, PowerPoint presentations, or Articulate Rise 360 courses, the system identifies and extracts the text for translation. This way, you can skip the copy-pasting entirely, which is a huge time-saver.

The next question you may ask (and I get asked a lot): What about the translation itself?

Well, Redokun can help you with the translation process as well!

Leverage Previously Approved Translations and Glossaries

Redokun has a built-in feature called Translation Memories (TMs). This is a database that stores all your previously approved translations, so you can reuse or repurpose them for new projects. Instead of translating the same sentences or phrases over and over again, Redokun automatically suggests matching translations from past work. This helps keep your translations consistent while also reducing the time your team spends redoing work that's already been done before.

You can also create glossaries to ensure that every time you translate documents, your team uses consistent and accurate terminology in all target languages. A translation tip pops up whenever the assigned person is about to translate a specific term that you saved in your company's unique glossary.

By giving your team instant access to this information, you can easily maintain the tone, brand voice, and accuracy for technical/branded terms across different projects.

Moreover, you can instantly make use of TMs in Redokun by importing any translations you have done in the past by importing in a TMX file, or by filling out and importing in our Excel Template. This way, you can reuse any translations you have already built up and paid for in the past with your translation vendor or software tool. Don't let these precious resources go to waste!

Integrated Machine Translation: Instant Suggestions from DeepL and Google Translate

Redokun integrates with machine translation engines like DeepL and Google Translate. This means that while your translators are working, they will instantly receive machine translation suggestions. It's a great way to reduce the workload because your team can use these suggestions as a starting point and then refine them. Of course, the human touch is still important, but it's a big help when you're on tight deadlines or dealing with difficult or large volumes of content.

Our Basic and Premium subscription plans already include a DeepL license, so you won't need a separate DeepL license while using Redokun.

Export Translations in the Original File Format

Have you completed reviewing your translation? After the translation is complete, users can export the translated content directly in the original file format. This is another area where Redokun really shines and delights our customers. If you started with a Word document or an InDesign file, you will end with a translated Word document or InDesign file. Redokun preserves your original layout and formatting when you export the translated version.

There's no need to copy-and-paste or worry about reproducing the design in the new languages. It's ready to go as soon as the translation is done.
