FAQ: Is it possible to translate the same document with multiple translators simultaneously?

Contents

Hi, it’s Lynn here.

If you have long-form content to translate, such as technical manuals, brochures, or user guides, it is no wonder why you would like to understand the collaboration features that Redokun offers.

One of the most frequently asked questions is this: is it possible to translate the same document with multiple translators simultaneously?

The answer is YES!

Redokun was created so that anyone (managers, translators, both internal and external) can work together in the program. It is incredibly easy to get started with the tool! (Read this article to learn about our 5-step, no-copying-and-pasting approach.)

Multiple translators can work on the same document in Redokun at the same time, as we know that this helps our users to complete translations much faster. We also offer other useful collaboration features that you may not know of!

4 collaboration features you should be taking advantage of from Day 1:

  1. Activity Tracking (available in our Premium plan). Track all changes made for every translation segment by any user. This feature is especially beneficial if you have multiple translators working on the same documents. Managers and translators can check what changes have been made and you can restore a previous translation in just one click.
  1. Comments. You can leave comments to other people (managers and translators) who have access to the translation by typing @, followed by their name in the ‘Brief, notes and instructions’ area or in the ‘Comments & Activities’ area for any translation segment. For example if your translator is not sure about a translation, needs to discuss terminology, or wants to get another person to look at something they can leave a comment. The person mentioned in the comment will get alerted via email and can then view and respond to the comment directly in Redokun. You can learn more about this feature here: Collaborating with Your Team
  1. Glossary. If you work with external translators, I recommend that you make use of the Glossary feature. This tool allows your translators to visually see if your Glossary terms (words, expressions, and acronyms specific to your organization or industry) are being used correctly in your translation. If not, your translator can hover over the underlined term in the source text column to see the correct translation and then make those corrections to the translation. You can learn more about this feature here: Glossary - What is it? How does it work?
  1. Translation Memory. When you invite a translator to translate a document, Redokun automatically saves their approved translations into your Translation Memory for future use. In the long term, this will save time as your translators do not need to translate the same sentences again, and increases translation quality and consistency. You can learn more about this feature here: Translation Memory - What is it? How does it work?

I hope you found this article helpful! I understand that adopting a new tool can be daunting, but a purpose-built tool like Redokun can help you remove stress from the equation! Here are some articles that you may find useful:
